A Look Back: The Elegance of Jennie

Fifteen years ago, I took this portrait of Jennie, and little did I know how much it would shape the path of photography for me. I just entered the professional realm of photography, still finding my footing, still learning how to guide a session, and still figuring out how to translate what I saw into a lasting image.
Jennie made it easy. She walked into the studio with a quiet confidence, and as soon as I lifted the camera, I could see the elegance in the way she carried herself. Her eyes had this calm depth, and the way she folded her hands brought a sense of grace that I couldn’t have posed if I tried. Looking through the viewfinder, I remember thinking: this is exactly why I love photography.
When I look back now, I don’t just see Jennie’s beauty and poise. I see the beginning of everything that followed: the countless headshots, portraits, and creative projects that have filled my career since. This photograph is a reminder of where it all started — with a single portrait, a little bit of courage, and a lot of heart.
